TWO POEMS GIVEN AWARDS BY THE BYRON HERBERT REECE SOCIETY

My two poems 'The Gate,' and 'Old Plank Road Pottery' just received honorable mention awards from The Byron Herbert Reece Society.

This year's competition was judged by poet Jim Clark, the Elizabeth H. Jordan Professor of Southern Literature and Writer-in-Residence at Barton College

I am especially proud of this award associated with the poet Byron Herbert Reece, as our work shares in common a deep love for these North Georgia Mountains.

The Byron Herbert Reece Society exists to preserve, perpetuate, and promote the literary and cultural legacy of the Georgia mountain poet/novelist, Byron Herbert Reece.  In addition to enhancing both knowledge of and appreciation for his writings, efforts will be made to honor his way of life, with particular emphasis on his love of nature and his attachment to farming.

Poem just accepted for Anthology 'The Reach of Song'

My poem "Breaching" has just been accepted for the anthology 'The Reach of Song' to be published this summer by The Georgia Poetry Society.
